I met him about a year ago. I like his seriousness and hard work. His customers seem to be inspired by his work ethic, and orders are constantly coming in. I can’t wear his shirts or dresses(because for women) , but they look very natural and gentle. They seem to reflect his character. Our reporting team visited his workshop.
彼とは約1年前に知り合いました。彼の真面目さと努力家なところが私は好きです。彼の顧客は彼のキャラクターのファンのようで常に注文が絶えません。私は彼のシャツやドレスを着ることができませんが(女性用のため)、とても自然で優しい印象を受けます。それはまるで彼の性格をそのまま表しているように思います。私たち取材班はそんな彼の工房を訪ねました。
When I was first introduced to him it was a shock. It wasn’t about shirts or sewing. He used to eat only “udon” (Japanese noodles) at his old job. And he still only eats udon. He said. My first impression was that he was a little bit strange boy.The shirt workshop where he worked was very famous, so he had a hard time during his apprenticeship. But he studied hard and diligently. He told me that he studied hard and diligently.
He started out making hats, and he worked his way up to mastering sewing. When he had improved his sewing skills, he decided to set up his own business.

His goal is to preserve the comfort of the garment and to give it a unique atmosphere while valuing the handiwork of the craftsmen.

He still works faithfully to the words of his mentor.
彼を初めて紹介された時それは衝撃的でした。それはシャツの話や縫製の話ではありませんでした。以前働いていた仕事先でいつも”うどん”しか食べない。と紹介されたことでした。(そして今もうどんしか食べないと言っていました。)私の第一印象は不思議な子だという印象でした。彼が弟子としてシャツの仕事を始めた工房は大変有名なところだったので修行する期間は本当に大変だったようでしたが、それでも「真面目に一生懸命に勉強した」と彼は話していました。当初帽子の製作から初めて、この業界に入り縫製を極めたいと思いコツコツと彼は努力をしてきた。少しづつ機械を揃えていき縫製の技術が上がったところで彼は独立を決心しました。
彼が目指すのは、本格的な縫製とそれを感じさせない自然なデザイン。職人の手仕事を大切にしながら、着心地の良さを保つ、独特の雰囲気を出すことが彼の目標だそうです。

彼の師匠の言葉を今も忠実に守って仕事をしています。
When I visited his workshop, I felt the constant sound of the sewing machine. He was just in the middle of producing his next new sample, and he was going to start trying something different. I got the feeling that he was always challenging himself. He spends most of the 12 hours he is in the workshop working on his sewing machine. I got the feeling that he really likes sewing.
One unforgettable quote from him during the interview.
‘I enjoy sewing. I don’t feel any hardship. I enjoy being able to do what I love.”
You can clearly see this in his creations.
And it seems to be conveyed to the customers who are fans of his work.
彼の工房を訪れると、ミシンの音が絶え間なく響いていました。彼はちょうど次の新しいサンプルを作っている最中で、何か違うことに挑戦し始めようとしていました。常に自分自身に挑戦しているのだと感じました。彼は彼の工房にいる12時間以上の時間のほとんどをミシンに費やしています。彼は本当に裁縫が好きなのだと感じました。
今回のインタビューの中で忘れられない言葉があります。「裁縫は楽しい。何の苦労も感じない。好きなことができるのが楽しいんです」。彼の作品を見ればそれがよくわかる。そしてそれは彼の作品のファンであるお客さんにも伝わっていると心から感じました。
MAKING AT OLD HOUSE.
His work comes from renovated old houses. The crossover between his brand and the atmosphere of this workshop was a very nice environment. Eames chair. Showa-era electric light with soft light. The creaking boarded corridor. And the fine cotton fabrics on the floor.
The soft image of the shirts and the old house matched very well, and by visiting the workshop, I could understand the reason why the shirts were so cute.
And today, the sound of the sewing machine continues.

I admire him for his passion for his work. I have many craftsman friends, but I have never seen anyone who enjoys his work as much as he does. I think he lives a wonderful life. His work reflects his personality – POPO shirts are always Kawaii = so cute.
私は彼が本当に楽しく仕事をしている姿を見て心から尊敬します。私の友達にも職人の子は何人もいるがこれほど楽しそうに仕事をしている人を見たことがありません。彼の生き方は素晴らしいと思います。そして彼の作品には彼の性格が出ているといつも思います。POPOのシャツはいつでもかわいい。
Mr. KEISHIRO TAKADA
He was born in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture. He moved to Tokyo at the age of 21 to study fashion at Bunka Fashion College. After graduating, he worked at a shirt workshop before launching his own personal brand, POPO, in 2017. He now creates pattern-ordered clothes mainly online. He is a craftsman who especially loves sewing and udon noodles.

愛知県豊橋市生まれ。21歳で上京し文化服装学院にて服飾の基礎を学ぶ。その後シャツ工房を経て独立。2017年に個人のブランド”POPO”を立ち上げる。現在はWEBを中心にオーダーメイドで服を作成中。何よりも縫製とうどんを愛する職人。
